Apricum – The Cleantech Advisory acted as exclusive sell-side M&A advisor to its client AmpTank, a Finland-based energy storage developer of projects in the Nordic region, in its recent sale of a majority stake of a 50 MW (50 MWh) BESS project in Finland to Norway’s Å Energi.
The Isokangas BESS project, developed by AmpTank and located near Oulu in central Finland, sits close to major wind power zones and a Fingrid substation linked to the 380 km Aurora Line – an interconnector between Finland and Sweden. The project is due to be completed in 2026.
The investment by Å Energi in Isokangas is made in partnership with Farvathn Capital and Eco-Stor AS, of which Å Energi is a majority shareholder.
AmpTank was founded in 2021 by experienced energy trading experts and has become a leading energy storage developer in the Nordics.
Investor interest in Finland’s grid-scale storage market continues to increase, driven by wide electricity price spreads in the intraday market and contracted revenue opportunities.
