Daan Terpstra
Apricum – The Cleantech Advisory is happy to welcome Mr. Daan Terpstra as our newest senior advisor. In his new role, Daan will leverage his integrated renewable energy system skills as well as experience with battery storage and the European energy market to help Apricum’s global clients deliver a successful and efficient energy transition.
Dann brings exceptional competencies primarily in the areas of strategy and roadmap development. This includes experience with integrated renewable energy portfolio management and regulatory frameworks in addition to policy and lobbying skills. With nearly 15 years of experience working on large scale utility projects, Daan is the CEO of the Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance, an independent league of committed stakeholders dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of digital infrastructures.
Some of Daan’s previous projects include the strategic repositioning of a major utility provider within the Northwestern European electricity flexibility market, leading a comprehensive overhaul of Europe’s second-largest wind farm operator’s ways-of-working and managing a portfolio of greenfield investments that included a combined renewable energy farm (solar/wind/BESS). Prior to joining Apricum, Daan worked for the Dutch energy amalgamation Nuon and then Vattenfall following its acquisition of Nuon. He also worked with energy consultancy Energie Makelaar in addition to being a board member of Energy Storage NL and an industrial fellow at London’s Royal Docks School of Business and Law.
Daan has earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen as well as a master’s degree in political science from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Born in the Netherlands and fluent in Dutch and English, Daan is passionate about sustainability and decarbonizing the energy grid and in his free time enjoys spending time with his family and cooking.
