Apricum – The Cleantech Advisory is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Andreas Heinen to its global senior advisor team.
Andreas joins us with two decades of international experience steering large-scale energy portfolios for customers, wholesale markets, and system operators—experience that has directly advanced the energy transition and decarbonization agenda. For over 15 years, he has led cross-functional teams of 25 to 100+ staff across energy supply, trading, risk, strategy, analytics, digital transformation, operations, and IT departments.
He has held full P&L accountability for commodity portfolios exceeding €10 billion in commodity revenues and has delivered more than €100 million in EBIT. A recognized specialist in digitizing energy-management workflows, Andreas leverages data-driven insights through AI, advanced analytics, and automation.
Andreas recently became Professor of Energy System Modelling and Simulation at the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg. Prior to that, he spent five years as Vice President Energy Portfolio Management and Trading at E.ON. Before joining E.ON he held the role of Vice President Operations and Head of IT at innogy. His other senior roles at RWE included Head of Operational Portfolio Management, Head of Complex Risk and Hedge Execution, Head of Risk Control Products and Models, representing 15 years in total at RWE.
Today, as Professor of Energy System Modelling at the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg, he leads federally funded research of local and regional energy networks in the context of the integrated European energy system.
Andreas holds a PhD in physics from TU Dortmund University, Germany, with a research fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the USA.
His valuable combination of senior-level P&L leadership, deep quantitative insight, and passion for the clean-energy transition will strengthen Apricum’s strategy and transaction advisory services for utilities, investors and technology innovators worldwide.
